Mary Shelley, Frankenstein and the Villa Diodati

Mary Shelly was the woman who wrote Frankenstein.
Mary unconventional life up to the summer of 1816, along with the company in which she found herself in June of that year.
 The vital spark that gave the novel life however was Lord Byron’s suggestion one evening at the Villa Diodati, as candlelight flickered within the house and lightning flashed across the surface of the lake outside, that those present should turn their hands to the writing of ghost stories.
Frankenstein was a story of scientific transgression and a cautionary warning about the need to take responsibility for one’s actions.

  3. What was he famous for? He was famous for his romantuc, writer, poet, critic and journalist. He was a renovator of the Gothic novel, especially remembered for his horror stories.
  4. Did he get married? Yes, Poe married his cousin Virginia when she was 13 and he was 24.
  5. How did he die? The reason for his death is unknown

  1. What his nickname? His nickname was The Master of Suspense
  2. What was his famous horror film?  His famous horror film is Psycho (1960)
  3. What was his main contribution to horror? He's best remembered for his contributions to two film generes in particular: The horror and suspense. Perhaps Hitchocock's most important contribution to horror films was his frequent use of the subjective camera to reveal a character's vision.
Comic relief

  1. What is the comic relief ? Comic relief usually means a releasing of emotionals or other tension resulting from a comic episode interposed in the midst of serious or tragic elements in a drama.
  2. Why is it used in horror films? This generally occurs when the work enters a dramatic moment, but the caracter continues to be comical regardless.
